VC Reid Smith Livestock proudly traces its roots back to 1955, when the business was established as V.C. Reid & Son by Vivian Reid and his son Wayne. For more than 60 years, Vivian and Wayne serviced the region with unwavering dedication, earning a strong reputation for their hard work, integrity and commitment to the livestock industry.

In 1983, Wayne welcomed his sons Scott and Murray into the business. As the company continued to evolve, Scott later became the licensee in charge, with Murray working alongside him to further grow and strengthen the family operation.

Today, VC Reid Smith Livestock remains a proudly family-owned and operated business. Directors Scott, Murray and Julie continue to lead the business, alongside Sam Smith, who brings a wealth of industry knowledge after twelve years working in the livestock sector. Julie plays a key role managing the office and administration, ensuring the business runs smoothly behind the scenes.

In 2025, Caitlin joined the team, supporting Scott, Murray and Sam at the yards and contributing to the day-to-day operations of sale days.

The team operates out of the Central West Livestock Exchange, conducting weekly cattle and sheep sales, fortnightly pig sales and regular store sales. VC Reid Smith Livestock also offers a range of marketing options including AuctionsPlus, over-the-hook sales, direct feedlot and paddock sales, as well as clearing sales.
